Abstract Artist Ron Marko
A Denver native who, not being able to tolerate the cold any longer, now lives and works in Arizona. An abstract and sometimes figurative artist who's style of work is unlike anything we've seen in the past. A melding of styles and influence from Willem DeKooning, Frank Stella, Picasso, and Salvador Dali all rolled into one! An impressive and eclectic mix spanning more than 2 decades.
"I don't chronologically categorize my paintings - I keep going back to styles I was working on years before and try to put a different spin or perspective onto the canvas. Sometime changing the image completely and sometimes these variations of styles over the years come out successful others not so much. It's an evolution of multiple styles that keeps me interested and coming back to them. I use a variety of medias on any single canvas. From inkjet to oils, I use everything but always start out with a pencil on paper or canvas. As a kid I drew constantly and I've always been drawn to finding shapes within shapes. I could (and still do :-)) literally spend hours staring at the clouds and making up stories about them - I see creatures, people, animals or structures almost immediately. I had thought that everyone saw the clouds this way but quickly realized that not everyone did. I would be explaining these scenes I'd be looking at and most people wouldn't be able to see it. It's an interesting phenomenon that people can see things for more than what they are."
