Mickey Bond
An Israeli born daughter of two holocaust survivors (from Poland & Bulgaria) I was raised in Israel and west suburban Boston. I have lived in Santa Fe since 1994. I work plein-air by manipulating a variety of water soluble media on clayboard and canvas. In my art I seek to capture nature's forces and the mystery of creation. I am the Artistic Director of the Santa Fe Artist Guild and teach workshops on the nuts & bolts of art exhibition and the aesthetics of showing.
My favorite water-media include CARAN D'ACHE water-soluble wax pastels, tube
watercolor, casein, gouache and soft pastel. Instead of brushes, I use an
assortment of tools including cloths, scrapers, and sponges to produce marks
that are painted, drawn and scratched. I also employ masking agents such as
rubber cement, in order to create unexpected, irregular shapes and lines.
